When to contact the Birthing Suite
If you are 20 weeks or more you should contact us immediately (day or night) if any of the following occur:
- Ruptured membranes (waters have broken)
- Bright bleeding
- Dizziness, visual disturbances associated with nausea and/or severe headache
- Noticeable decrease in, or lack of foetal movements
- Regular contractions
- Premature labour
The midwife will advise if it is necessary to come to hospital. If you have any concerns prior to 20 weeks, do not hesitate to contact your obstetrician or your GP immediately. Alternatively, visit a hospital Emergency Department.
What do I need to bring with me to hospital?

For you;
- Antenatal card
- All personal toiletries
- Pyjamas and slippers
- casual comfortable clothing and footwear
- Underwear
- Maternity pads (2 or more packs)
- Breast pads
- Energy drinks and lite snacks
- Camera
- Ipod or Iphone and charger
- Hair dryer if you need to blow dry your hair
For baby;
- Formula, bottles and teats if you are not breastfeeding
- going home outfit and wrap
Car parking
For drop off and collection of patients, there is a 15 minute parking area designated as the patient pick-up area at the front of the hospital via Gloucester Road.
Undercover paid parking is available level B1 of Hurstville Private Hospital (entry via Millet Street).
This carpark is owned and operated by Interpark Australia Pty Ltd.

Where to go
Maternity is located on Level 4 of the hospital. Access to the hospital’s lifts is through the main Reception area or from the on-site carpark on level B1
After Hours access
The main hospital doors are locked between 8pm and 6am.
Vaccinations
You are encouraged to have your free whooping cough vaccine from 28 weeks, available from your GP. It is also a good idea for your partner and other close relatives to visit their GP for a vaccination too.
